Last week, out preschool went on a field trip to Falls Park to check out the Post Falls Dam. Our weekly theme is, “The Way Things Work,” so why not talk a little bit about what a dam does. It’s the perfect opportunity to get out of the classroom and enjoy the outdoors.
My favorite part of the field trip was this critter that we saw in a tree. I’m pretty sure it was a porcupine, but I wasn’t close enough to really tell. The park also has some marmots that reside there.
Here’s a picture of a porcupine that I found online.
I’m not positive ours was a porcupine. What do you think?

It sure looks like it...unless gigantic hedgehogs like to climb trees?
I think it's a marmot...maybe he wondered what it would be like to be a porcupine??
Oh wow...that looks too amazing! the kids look like they enjoyed themselves!
Ryan had such a blast. He kept talking about the porcupine. It's really hard to tell if it is a porcupine or a marmot - but I didn't know marmots climb trees. Of course, I didn't know that porcupines climb trees, too! Now I'm going to have nightmares about porcupines and marmots dropping on my head from the tops of trees... ;)
It does look like a porcupine! What else looks the same as a porcupine that climbs trees? It's gotta be, which would be really neat that you saw one.
THanks for your comment!
